I was in the back of Bogart's in Cincinnati in 2001, we'd gone for Rival Schools, none of my crew had really tapped into the Dashboard thing yet, but we stuck around to see what the fuss was about, and I remember watching him close with Again I Go Unnoticed and you for real couldn't hear him singing because the entire room was singing louder than him and I was looking at my guys with this expression like yeah, okay, people really really love this, the walls were vibrating and I was not prepared for any of that.

I assigned this in three different courses before I finally listened to the audiobook on a long flight. Found things I'd missed reading it. Jeff Chang did what nobody else had the patience or the love to do.

I wrote my dissertation with this on repeat for six months. Every chapter has a Voodoo section of my brain it lives in now. I can't separate the ideas from the music anymore, which I've decided is a feature not a bug.
