This is my favorite recording of all time. Why? It’s a mess! This is what music is to me personally. It’s kids who just learned their instruments and are now learning to play together. Pretty much the anti Steely Dan. The singer and the band are in two different places after the guitar solo and they didn’t stop and start again, they just rolled with it. The production quality is low budget, everything is a saturated and the vocals are hard to understand. This led to kids writing down dirty lyrics they thought they heard, which in turn led to an FBI investigation! The best part about the FBI investigation was they found no dirty lyrics but missed the drummer yelling “fuck” 54 seconds in. This recording and the legend behind it inspired the bands that would go on create punk. The recording shows that perfection doesn’t matter; energy, attitude and the willingness to put yourself out there does.
