Sounds that define me
I remember the first time I listened to Have a Cigar. I was around nine and I was alone with my grandma at the house, with my auntie's cassettes and CDs at my disposal without her knowledge. Actually this liner could've been for the entire album but I was listening to an old school, manually pirated cassette. So when Have a Cigar was up, a song unbeknownst to me at that time, I was hooked right from the start. When the song neared its end, and the tape gotten "broken" and funny-sounding, I totally lost my shit (and the next didn't help even a single bit). I thought I had broken my auntie's music set and her cassette simultaneously (surely would've been a feat of strength for nine year older who barely touched the player and the cassette). I remember ejecting the cassette and inspecting it to no avail. I rewinded it and played the song again, losing myself listening to it even deeper the second time round, and again there goes the failure at the end! Only when my tender synapses finally cooled down at around the fourth replay was I able to realize that the cassette and the player was fine but something was off with the recording itself(!), lol.
