The guitar intro has been burned into my brain from the moment I first heard it. This song has been my constant for over half my life, everything about it is so sonically beautiful I can feel it in my chest, even if the words are devastating

I remember somehow either throwing this album on or “running to stand still” coming up as a recommendation, but that song stopped me dead in my tracks. I was shocked because at the time all I knew about U2 was that they were a total sellout because of what they did with songs of innocence, I never took them seriously. I called my dad and we talked about them on the phone for nearly two hours, he gave me their whole story, and I was at a loss for words, if for no other reason than I have never heard of such a long fall from grace. This album became one of my all time favorites, and from there I did a deep dive into their entire discography. U2 is now one of my favorite bands, probably in the top 10 if not top 5

Coupled with the movie, this album is a fucking masterpiece. Roger Waters is such an asshole, but credit where credit’s due.
