If I had one album to listen to over and over for eternity, it would be Disintegration, and I wouldn't be mad about it. From the opening chimes of "Plainsong" and the following drums and melody, it is immediately evident that something special is about to happen. By the time you get through "Pictures of You" and start the driving rhythm of "Closedown," you are in another world. From track to track, Disintegration stands the test of time. It is as relevant now as it was in 1988. There's simply not a bad song on the album, and collectively it paints a picture that few studio recordings in history have been able to do. Disintegration is a mood. A landscape. An impressionist mosaic. A musical masterpiece.
